Mufti for Bumside
Seventh-form pupils at Bum side High School will be allowed to wear mufti during the third term, the school 1 board of governors has ■ decided. This will operate on a trial basis but over a eight-week . period compared with six weeks last year. Mr J. P. [ Godfrey will report to the board each month on the, results of the experiment. The headmaster (Mr A. D. ,| Hunter) opposed the move, [showing board members a [picture of a girl in a revealing tank top in seventh-form i English class last year. The experiment failed last I year, he said. "We should not have to police seventh-form pupils, and it was very diffli cult for them to police J themselves.” i The board unanimously passed the motion to allow mufti, but the associate principal (Mr D. Rathbone) expressed opposition to the move during debate; neither he nor Mr Hunter have voting rights.
