Flood aid to Bangladesh

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 12. CORSO would forward immediately any money subscribed by the public for Bangladesh flood relief to United Nations agencies such as U.N.I.C.E.F. and the Christian Relief Organisation, said CORSO’s public relations officer (Mr J. Herbert) today. Mr Herbert said that although his organisation had no firm plans yet for a fullscale relief programme, channels were open for sending public money immediately. Further action would be discussed by CORSO tomorrow.

The New Zealand Red Cross had already sent $5OOO for relief in Bangladesh and $2OOO to Nepal, where similar flooding had occurred, said the society’s secretarygeneral (Commander M. C. Ashdown) today.
