Sub-unions retirements
Rugby in the Canterbury sub-unions has been dealt a blow with the announcement by Mr J. M. Le Lievre that he will not be seeking re- ‘ appointment as senior selector-coach next season. ) Under Mr Le Lievre’s guidi ance, plus assistance from Mr lA. E. G. Elsom, who has ■ helped with coaching in the ) last three • years, the pubunions representative team I has had much success. In fact, its only defeat in four years of representative matches was its narrow loss to Otago Sub-unions earlier this season. Mr Elsom has also decided that this will be his last year, otherwise he would probably have been asked to take over from Mr Le Lievre.
The executive of the Canterbury sub-unions association is likely, at its next meeting, to look at the appointment of a new coach. It has been the association’s practice to name its senior selectors a year in advance.
