Davis to miss one game

The Canterbury Rugby team Mill have the services of its half-back and vice-captain, L. J. Davis, for three of the four matches on its North Island tour.

There had been a possibility that Davis would have to forego the tour because) of commitments to his mar-ket-garden business. However, he has agreed to take just over a week off work, which means he will) miss only the first game of I ) the tour, against Bay of I Plenty at Rotorua on Wednesday week. He will join the side in Palmerston North, where it will play Manawatu on August 24. Canterbury’s other opponents will be Hawke's Bay at Napier on August 28, and Auckland three days later. There will be 19 players in the touring party, but additions may have to be made for the Auckland game, which is on the day that New Zealand Maoris meet Fiji. Canterbury might lose as many as four players to the Maoris. The 19 players will be named tomorrow night after the Canterbury-Waikato! match at Lancaster Park. WAIKATO TEAM The Waikato side fori tomorrow’s game was an-! nounced yesterday, and it I contains three players who! have represented Canterbury A or B in recent years. They are the lock, R. J. Lockwood, who played regularly for Canterbury A, and the first five-eighths, R. McGlashan, and the loose forward, J. M. Chilton, both of whom appeared for the B side. The Waikato team is: R.
