Boys’ Brigade drill record
The Beckenham company of the Boys’ Brigade won the three sections of the brigade’s annual drill competitions during the week-end. The company has won 16 successive A grade drill competitions, a world record. The championship section was close, less than two points separating the Beckenham and Riccarton companies. More than 100 boys, aged from 12 to 18, took part in the competitions, which were open to the 27 companies in the Canterbury Battalion. Results:— Championship grade (J. K Collins Cup).—First Christchurch Company (Beckenham), 77.85 points, 1; Twelfth Christchurch (Rlcearton). 76.54, 2; Twentyeighth Christchurch (Woolston), 69.72, 3. Squad drill competition (Turner and Le Brun Trophy).—First Christchurch, 67.54, 1; Twentyeighth Christchurch, 58.49, 2; Twenty-sixth Christchurch (Hornby), 43.08, 3. Novice grade (Brown Memorial Trophv).—First Christchurch, 82.80, 1; Twelfth Christchurch, 69.45, 2. Fleming Medal (best n.c.0.) — Corporal B. Deavall (Twentyeighth Christchurch), 89.83, 1; Sergeant C. Thompson (First Christchurch), 87.63, 2; Sergeant T. Mills (Twenty-eighth Christchurch), 86.33, 3.
