694 acres fetch $122,000
A total of 694 acres of grazing and fattening land in the Sheffield Valley were sold for more than $122,000 in Christchurch yesterday. The acreage was offered in two lots.
Lot 1, 200 acres of flat and undulating land, with a Government valuation of $23,150, was sold privately after being passed in at auction at 564.500. The land has a capacity of eight ewes an acre. C-tbuildings include a twostand woolshed, sheen yards, new cattle yards, haybam (3200 bales), implement shed, granary, garage and workshop. and three-bedroom cottage. Lot 2, 494 acres of unimproved land, of which 100 acres is sown in white clover, was sold for $58,500. The' Government valuation isj $15,300. Stock in the last nine: months included 135 Angus breeding cows, and in summer. 1500 breeding ewes. The auctioneer was Mr F. McD Templeton, of Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd. A two-bedroom weatherboard bungalow on 25 acres of pasture land in a market gardening area at Woodend was sold privately after being passed in at auction at <40.250. valuation is $9500. The auctioneer was Mr L. P. Devlin of Rangiora. A two-storey house at 21 Church Lane, Merivale, was sold for $54,000. The Government valuation (1969) is $16,400. The auctioneer was Mr C. M. Robertson, of Sherris and Wilson. Ltd.
