Car damaged by fire

Fire badly damaged a car only a few hours after the owner bought it yesterday. Smoke was seen coming from the car, a 1969 Vauxhall Victor, shortly after Mr A. J. Bensley, the new owner, had parked it in Worcester Street last evening. The engine was severely damaged. The rear half of a house at 46 Bowhill Road, New Brighton, was gutted about 9.30 a.m. yesterday. The fire is thought to have started from an electric radiator left on a table.

By the time engines from Brighton and Headquarters arrived the walls and ceilings were alight and the house, owned by Mr W. Warmenhoven, was filled with smoke.

A lounge of a house at 16 Rugby Street, Merivale, was damaged by fire about 6.30 p.m. yesterday. The flames are believed to have spread I from a wood box. The house 'is owned by Mr N. Logan.
