Rabbits
i Sir—Mr L. D. Urquhart, (Mackenzie delegate at the (annual conference of the i South Island Pest Destruction 'Board, is reported to have said: “If a wild rabbit poiisoned with 1080 was exported by mistake one could only imagine the damage it would do to New Zealand meat exports.” Surely he knows that Australia used 1080 for the destruction of wild rabbits long before Nev/ Zealand and l still uses it for that purpose
and that in Australia the housewife can still purchase rabbit carcases and the public can enjoy a meal of rabbit in most restaurants and that Australia has never ceased to export rabbit meat. I think it is a shame that the majority of the present generation have never had the pleasure of tasting this delicacy. — Yours, etc.. B.H. ' July 6, 1974.
