Extra earnings

Sir,—l am not writing this letter to voice any grumble whatever. I am quite satisfied in knowing that Mr Kirk and the Government are doing their best for the old people, but one thing I cannot understand. Now, I am nearly 74 years old but I am still a little bit active and can do a little job say two to two hours and a half a day but when I have earned a certain ambunt I have to stop. Would it make a great deal of difference to the economy to let people my age, man or woman, do a little job without any stipulation put on them? It is not the few dollars one earns because, as you know, one is getting towards the inevitable. So can the Government not let them have a free mind for the last few years left to them instead of being tied down

until they are taken away.— Yours, etc., WILLIAM DERRY. July 2, 1974.
