BLENHEIM. The national colts’ hockey tournament started in Blenheim yesterday. Eighteen teams were listed to compete but one— Southland-Gore—withdrew. First-round results:—
Canterbury 3, Wanganui 0; Northland 5, Marlborough 1; Wellington 5, Poverty Bay 1; Auckland 4, Manawatu 2; South Canterbury 2, Horowhenua 0; Hawke’s Bay 1, Otago 0; Hamilton beat Southland-Gore by default; Taranaki 3, Ashburton 1; Wairarapa 1, Nelson 0.
