Fees offer rejected
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 20. Dentists have rejected an offer by the Government of a 27 per cent increase in fees paid for teen-age patients under the State dental benefits scheme. The dentists want the increase to be backdated to April of last year. They also want an agreement on a regular review of the benefits. based on cost fluctuations.
Mr J. S. Howie, chairman of the Dental Association, said today that the association would be meeting the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Watt) before the end of this month, and he was hopeful of a satisfactory outcome. If the meeting failed to reach agreement, however, al! dentists belonging to the association would be advised to give notice of withdrawal from the scheme.
