Subdivisions not allowed
The No 2 Town and Country Planning • Appeal Board is not prepared to accept the argument that the creation of small housing developments in a rural setting would solve the problem of the fragmentation of rural land.
The board, in a reserved judgment, dismissed appeals by Messrs B. E. Bacon and D. S. Laird against a refusal by the Paparua County Council to grant them specified departures to enable them to build houses on rural sections. “The coherence of the whole district as achieved by the district scheme is the matter of prime interest in this instance,” said the decision. “The board will therefore not exercise its discretion and permit this subdivision.”
