; The England all-rounder, C. Old, followed up his century for Yorkshire against the Indian cricketers by helping to bowl the touring team out for 102 runs. Old, who started the Indian collapse by taking two wickets overnight, finished with figures of five for 30 as the touring team trailed by 104 runs on the first innings. Yorkshire added 46 runs to its lead for the cost of two second-innings wickets by stumps. It scored 206 in its first innings. At one stage half the Indian team was out for only 12 runs after Old’s pace had proved too much for S. Kirmani and A. Wadekar, both of whom he clean bowled. The tourists were saved from complete disaster by a seventh-wicket stand of 51 by A. Mankad and Madan Lal, the only batsmen to reach double figures.
