The Auckland surgeon, Sir Brian Barratt-Boyes, has received $5190 from the National Heart Foundation to help pay for the installation of electronic recording equipment in the experimental surgical laboratory at Green Lane Hospital, the scentific committee of the foundation announced yesterday. Norris, Green Lane Hospital, $6lBB for continuing studies in myocardial infarction. Professor F. O. Simpson, Otago Medical School, $2388 as a continuation of a previous to extend computer facilities to help in the study of patients with hypertension. Dr S. P. Woodhouse, lecturer in clinical science. University of Otago, $2OOO as ah extension of a previous award to investigate the action of certain drugs on muscle metabolism. The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, $650 to assist with the visits of overseas heart specialists to lecture in New Zealand.
