Sir, —Do we need to save power, or do we not? Could anyone tell me what power is used to keep huge, heavy escalators going all day, every day, in our city shops. The greatest number of people using them would be better walking upstairs, as everyone did from the time the first staircase was built; and for others there is still a lift. How pampered and lazy can we get?—Yours etc.,
