Ethiopia aid
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 29. By early next month, New’ Zealand aid to Ethiopia and the Sahelian zone, south of the Sahara Desert, will have reached $389,680. In a statement issued by CORSO today, the organisation's chairman (Mr B. Brown) said that $54,214 worth of whole milk biscuits and protein were shipped to the area on January 19. On May 9, $57,460 worth of New Zealand protein would leave for Africa in the Straat Clarence.
Last year cash contributions for famine relief in the area amounted to $278,000, said Mr Brown. He thanked the New Zealand public for its “outstanding response” to the continuing tragedy.
