Few rises on quiet Australian markets
Trading on Australian exchanges yesterday was again quiet, with few rises being recorded. Only a few leading issues managed to hold at previous levels, or rise against the trend.
C.R.A. and B.H. South dropped 5c lower and G.M.K. eased 10c to 210 c. M.LM. was 3c easier at 235 c but Bougainville, Hamersley and North B.H. sold slightly higher.
Peko-Wallsend went exrights and closed at 450 c. It was 540 c on Friday. Poseidon, W.M.C. and Central Norseman were unchanged. Woodside-Burmah shed 2c at 141 c and Ampol and Weeks were both 3c lower. Santos sold 2c lower at 92c but A.A.R. held its ground. B.H.P. managed a 2c gain at 834 c. Myers was also marginally higher. Aust. Guarantee, C.S.R., Mainline and Comalco were firm but the C.B.A. plunged 13c to 325 c and Waltons eased 8c to 150 c. E.Z. Industries.
