Railway loading

Sir, —I am writing this while waiting for railway workmen to begin unloading my truck. I am writing on the back of a railway docket, the four pages of which are required to send any article by rail. As it began raining this morning, the men stopped early for lunch. I took the liberty of unloading my truck into the correct waggon, but the head crane

driver has demanded that I return the goods to my truck as it was his duty, not mine, to load them. Last week I waited 90 minutes for a crane to lift, one reel of cable on to my truck. When the crane arrived the operator said that although I had the necessarypaperwork he had no instructions to load my truck and could not do so. At Daily Freightways I fill in one docket plus carbon copy. Delay is a minimum and I leave within minutes.—Yours etc., TRUCKIE IN THE KNOW. April 26, 1974.
