Pacific adventure
A Japanese adventurer, aged 37, has set sail across the Pacific in a “raft-boat.” made partly from oil drums, to appeal to the United Nations to promote the use of plankton as a food for humans. Mr Kentaro Kaneko, of Musashino, on the edge of Tokyo, said before leaving on his solitary voyage from Tateyama, that he planned to reach San Diego. California, in about six months. He designed his 4-ton craft Inanna himself. It has two masts and an emergency engine, and its central parts consist of 32 empty !petrol drums.—Tokyo, April 28.
