S.I. Territorials to train in Fiji

About 120 South Island Territorial Force soldiers will do a spell of basic tropical infantry training in Fiji next month.

Men of the 2nd Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment will leave Christ-

church by R.N.Z.A.F. Hercules on May 13 and return on May 20. They will do five days of basic training.

To qualify for the overseas exercise each soldier picked had to have completed a minimum of one year’s efficient service, with preference going to those who had attended annual camp. The 120 men will be only the second group of Territorial Force volunteers to go overseas for training.
