(.X.Z. Press \ WELLINGTON, April 18. The number of registered! unemployed fell by 32 in the' fortnight ended last Friday,' :the Minister of Labour (Mr Watt) said today. The total registered with the Labour Department oni April 11 was 669 and, in ad-1 'dition, 25 men (26 on March 29) were on special govern-; ment work. The Minister said the! combined total of 694 was: 2404 less than that recorded; at the same time last year.; Recorded vacancies dropped ‘by nine in the fortnight’ 'under review to 4260. District unemployment figures on April 11 (with March 29 figures in brack-1 ets) were: Northland 145 (152),, Auckland 0 (0), Hamilton 57' (58), Tauranga 62 (51), i Rotorua 143 (105), Gisborne! 54 (55), Napier 1 (1), Hast-, ings 3 (2), New Plymouth 16; (17), Wanganui 12 (17),i Palmerston North 31 (34),; ;Masterton 2 (0), Lower Hutt! i 0 (0), Wellington 4 (9), BlenIheim 35 (29), Nelson 5 (3), IGreymouth 36 (34), Christchurch 8 (9), Timaru 1 (0), Dunedin-Oamaru 29 (32), Invercargill 25 (93).
