Downward movement still in wool market

The final Timaru wool sale of the season, held yesterday, will not he remembered with much enthusiasm. After falls of the order of 18c to 25c per kilogram at each of the last two Christchurch sales for halfbred and Corriedale wools, these wools slid further downwards yesterday by about 5c to 15c.

This continued downward movement was not helped by the standard of the offering, which was an end-of-season selection, many wools still showing the effects of the late drought in tenderness of staple. This restricted the range of competition, these wools being unsuitable for the requirements of some buyers.

Mayfield, sold 14 bales of ewe wool at 174 c. Guide Hill Station, Lake Tekapo. received 173 c for six bales of fine half bied and R G. Blee. Ashburton, sold seven bales of extra fine halfbred at 170 c. A. I). Lovett. Ashburton, realised 169 c for eight bales of fine Corriedale. R.
