Tramping course
A course for novice trampers will be run this month by the Canterbury Mountain Safety Committee. Mr N. Hanis, the committee’s chairman, said he was concerned at the number of inexperienced and inadequately prepared trampers going in the mountains. The course will take 20 persons, and consists of an evening of lectures and a week-end lin the Lees Valiev.
Leaders of tramping parties from high schools and youth groups take a similar course before going into the mountains.
