No bid for cottage

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. A 100-year-old .stone cottage near Queenstown was passed in when it failed to attract any bids at an auction on Saturday. The auctioneer, Mr M. Ron-, aid, of B. R. Heywood, Ltd, Invercargill, opened bidding at $35,000, but there were no further offers from the 30 people at the sale. The auctioneer said negotiations were continuing privately. The house is about a mile from Queenstown, close to the Arthur’s Point Road. It was built in the late 1870 s as a homestead for Mr M. J. Malaghan, the second mayor of Queenstown.
