Tribute to Mr Scott
The Christchurch City Council last evening officially recorded its thanks to the chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Mr R. S. Scott) for his part in the success of the Games. “There is no question that Christchurch will have benefited in many ways, both tangible and intangible, as a result of this great festival of sport carried out in such a friendly spirit,” said the Mayor (Mr N. G. Pickering).
“I am sure that all members of the council would join with me in paying the sincerest possible tribute to Mr Scott, to the main organising committee itself, and to the supporting committees responsible for various aspects of the Games,” he said.
His motion of thanks and congratulations to Mr Scott was carried unanimously.
