LONDON, Feb. 6 ■ Amnesty International, the j I London-based human rights [organisation, is beginning a campaign to obtain the re--[lease of selected prisoners' [detained in Northern Ireland. The names of certain prisoners, chosen bv civil rights and legal justice organisations. will be distributed among amnesty branches throughout the . world, each of which will adopt one prisoner, gather information about him, and agitate on his behalf through the British. Government and news media. “Eventually, public opinion will force the release of theprisoner.” the organisation I says. “Those chosen will be! drawn from people detained without trial, and the de-j tainees will themselves help to choose candidates.” Political observers say that! the campaign may raise difficulties for Britain, some of whose partners in the Euro-j pean Common Market gives strong support to Amnesty International.
