The New Zealand College of General Practition- , ere was. officially inaugurated in a ceremony ia the Christchurch Town Hall last evening before a large audience, many in the academic robes of medical and other faculties. The first president of the college. Dr P. D. Delany, of; Wellington, said that a col-' lege was essential for the I continuing vitality of general 1 practice, because the general practitioner had to be as well. trained as his counterpart mi surgery, physical medicine or| obstetri :s. The inauguration address was given by Professor P. S. Byrne, of Manchester, president of the Royal College of Genera 1 Practitioners, who; also presented diplomas to! Drs P. C. McKinlay. J. P. The new college is the; largest medical college in New Z ealand, with more than 35 per cent of all general, practil toners belonging to it.
