Team official remanded
A man who left New Zealand in 1968 while on bail on a charge of assault returned to the country three weeks ago as assistant manager of the Cook Islands Commonwealth Games team, Sergeant R. I. Harlick. said in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The man, Joseph Cowan, aged 31 (Mr N. G. Hattaway), was remanded on bail to appear in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court on February 7. The police objection to bail was withdrawn after a discussion in the Magistrate’s chambers during the morning adjournment. Cowan was arrested on warrant at the Games Village on Saturday morning.
