‘GAPS’ IN FLEET No One-ton Cup bid
i.YZ. Press Association AUCKLAND The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron has decided again! i lodging a challenge for the One [ton Cup this year. The squadron commodore iMi W. G. Becketti said last night that a meeting of the special 'One-ton Cup Committee had de tided that there is not sufficient time to work up the new boat* now being built—but some tinu off launching—with the Onetonners already in commission ' "We should hare a fine fleet l of One-tonners be the end of this year, and providing the yachts [racing in the preliminary trials [reach the required standard, the squadron could consider a chai Jenge for the 1975 contest, al [Long Island Sound. New York This rear the cup is scheduled ito be sailed at Torquay, in 1976 the cup will be at I.e Havre and the next year the control body has voted Australasia as [the venue. "The yacht squadron's aim. said Mr Beckett, “is to get Auck land as that venue.”
