Enforcement criticised
How many of the three traffic inspectors assigned to Paparua County actually bothered to enforce the traffic regulations, asked Cr A. Y. Shuker at a meeting of the county council last even-; Ing. “I don’t think Sir Basil Arthur (the Minister of Transport) is very interested in traffic enforcement,” he laid. Cr Shuker said he had brought matters to the notice of the senior traffic Inspector, but he had not noticed any improvement. It was not good enough for the Minister to say the staffing position was “constantly tinder review.” Cr R. S. Mayer said he noticed that the inspectors had issued 708 offence notices in November and Detember.
