MAN DROWNS IN SURF
’ (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. Feb. 3. A man was drowned while ! swimming off Waikanae Beach this morning. He was Harold Percy Skyrme, aged 54, a Government veterinarian, of Gisborne. He was swimming about a mile from the patrolled area I when he got into difficulties i in a fairly strong surf. He . was taken from the water by ' the Midway Surf Life-saving Club’s jet boat, but was certified dead by a doctor on ' the beach.
