Nicholas has lower profit
(N.Z. Press Association SYDNEY, February 1. The profit growth of Nicholas International, Ltd, was considerably ■ reduced in the half-year to December 31 as a result of international currency adjustments, the directors say. Without the significant upward movement in the parity of the Australian dollar, the net profit of the pharmaceutical products group would have risen 16.3 per cent in the past half-year, compared with the December, 1972, half-year. Instead, the net earnings of the group showed a more modest gain of 8.8 per cent on sales that rose 24.1 per cent. Sales in the past half-year rose from $32.0m to $39.7m while net earnings increased to $2.4m from an adjusted level of $2.21m. The interim dividend is steady at 3 per cent.
