Girl dies
A girl died at the Timaru Hospital on Saturday morning from injuries suffered when the motor-cycle on which she was a pillion passenger was involved in a collision with a car at 10.50 p.m. the previous day. She was Christine Margaret Fitzgerald, aged 16, a shop assistant, of 11A Otipua! 11 Road, Timaru. The accident occurred on) King Street about 100 yards ; I south of the Shaw Street intersection. The rider of the motorcycle, William John Herd, aged 19, a plasterer, of 14 Kelvin Street, Timaru, was taken to hospital by a St John ambulance. The hospital authorities refused to give any information relating to his injuries or condition. The car was being driven by Terry Stewart Henshaw, aged 21. a radio technician, of Holme Station. No. 2 R.D.
