The Games programme begins today with competitions in six of the nine sports. It i is: TRACK AND FIELD 10 a.in.: Pentathlon (100 m ' hurdles). 10.30 a.m.: 100 m (men), first : round. 11 a.m.: Pentathlon (shot put). 11.30 a.m.: 400 m (women), first round. 1,-55 a.m.: 400 m (men), first round. 1 p.m: Hammer (men), final. 1.30 p.m.: Pentathlon (high jump). 2 p.m.: 110 m hurdles (men), first round. 2.25 p.m.: 100 m (men), second round. 3.5 p.m.: 100 m (women), first round. 3.40 p.m.: 10,000 in (men), final. 3.45 p.m.: Pentathlon (long jump). 4.15 p.m.: 400 m (women), semifinals. 4.40 p.m.: 400 m (men), second round. 5.10 p.m.: 110 m hurdles (men), semi-finals. 5.25 p.m.: Pentathlon (200 m 5.55 p.m.: 3000 metres steeplechase (men), heats. I 6.25 p.m.: 100 m (women), semifinals.
