Waltham pool charges

Sir.—H. M. T. has ob-; iviously missed the main : point of the entire correspondence on the Waltham pool. The main grievance is not about the charge but about the fact that it was increased 50 per cent and made equal to that for Queen Elizabeth II Park. Even H.M.T. must agree that, whether concessions are available or not —and they are equally available at Q.E. II Park—it is not a fair thing to expect children from the south of the city to pay 15 cents for such an inferior pool as Waltham when, for instance, the ad- ; mission at Jeliie Park is 12 : cents. When, for the sake of I consistency, will the City I Council extend this policy of equality of charges to' its rating system? All houses are merely “homes”; so why should some ratepayers pay more rates than others, because their valuations are higher?—Yours, etc., WHAT NEXT, i January. 22, 1974.
