Games tickets sell in Ashburton
Ashburton people have purchased through local agents nearly $l6OO worth of tickets for the various sessions at the Commonwealth Games since the bookings opened last February.
Travel agents in Ashburton reported yesterday that they had been besieged with inquiries and requests for bookings during the last week
Sales during the week are es hig i J est Fe b”“ ry the $lOOO of tickets were sold by one agent in one day. A feature of the ticket sales had been the response to bus tours which have been arranged in conjunction with the sales. Daily bus tours conducted by a local transport firm will take more than 500 people up to Christchurch during the Games period. At least one bus will leave Ashburton each day and on some days two or three busloads of people will be transported to the various events.
