f.V.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LOME.

President Etienne Eyadema of Togo has announced that his Government will take over foreign mining interests in the phosphate-rich country.

Speaking on radio on the eve of the Togolese national day, General Eyadema said: “The national interest requires that the State take responsibility henceforth for exploitation and management of mining resources.”

He denounced a 1957 concession between the Togolese • Administration and the French company, Societe Miniere du Benin. He said Togo was taking over the marketing of its phosphate, and raising its participation in the company to 51 per cent.
