ASSAULT CHARGE

AUCKLAND, Jan. 3. A man was remanded on bail when he appeared in the North Shore Magistrate's Court today on a charge of, assault. Robert Daniel Cotterill,; aged 48, a freezing worker,; entered no plea to the charge: of assaulting Richard John Rutherford at Orewa on Januarv 1. Mr P. H. G. la Vie, J.P.,1 remanded him until January 9. Mr Rutherford, aged 47, single, of Old North Road, i Orewa, w'as found dead at : the bottom of concrete steps' at an Orewa house on Wednesday.
