Extradition refused

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ROME, Jan. 3.

Kuwait has rejected the Italian Government’s request that the five Arab terrorists who fire-bombed one airliner and hijacked another at Rome Airport on December 17 be extradited to Italy.

The decision has been met by an immediate and strongly-worded reply from the Italian Government, according to Foreign Ministry sources in Rome.

Italy sought the extradition of the five Arabs, who have been charged with the massacre of 31 persons, murder, hijacking, and a number of other crimes, although there is no official agreement between the two countries on extraditions.

The Foreign Ministry sources say that Italy rejects the Kuwaiti contention that ' it was a political crime, and looks upon it as "a massacre in flagrant violation of the human rights clearly spelt out by the United Nations ’ Charter.”
