Aust league called for

The Australian Soccer Federation has made a nationwide plea to leading clubs to declare their support for a long-awaited national league. The call was made by the federation president (Sir Arthur George) at the annual meeting in Sydney at the week-end. He said that an all-out effort must be made to form the league or Australia’s great effort in qualifying for the final 16 of the World Cup next year would be completely wasted. He called on leading clubs in all states to declare their full backing for a national league by no later than March 31 so that the league could be started by 1975.
