New ship lias crew
(N.Z. Press Associations AUCKLAND. Dec. 12. A crew has been engaged to man the Shipping Corporation’s new ship, the Coastal Trader (formerly the Silvia)• for the voyage from Finland to New Zealand. Crew members were signed on at Lyttelton yesterday an-fl are expected to fly from. Auckland on Friday. The Coastal Trader will take up the trade abandoned by the Union Steam Ship Company’s roll-on ship Wanaka. Because she has. (he same manning scale as the Wanaka. with the possible exception of one motorman fewer .in the .more modern engineroom. the Coastal Trader wi'l replace job opportunities on the coast lost by the Seamen’s Union when the WaInaka went on the Tasman run.
