Sir,—l’m afraid “Sotto j Voce" is not in full posses, |
sion of the relevant facts on rubbish bags and their disposal. It is true that plastic bags do not have a high disintegration rate but in trials conducted in Auckland it was proved that after five years underground a pile of 2-ply paper bags showed no sign of disintegration either. “Sotto Voce’s’ argument is like the paper bags he extols — it holds no water. Whether he likes it or not the council has made the right decision. — Yours, etc., PROGRESSIVE. November 16, 1973.
