if advertising is to be effective, it must be useful to consumers Successful marketing organisations know that where you advertise is just as important as how you advertise. A recent independent survey covering a random sample of 1000 New Zealanders who had been exposed to Radio, Television and Newspapers during the previous seven days revealed some startling aspects of newspaper effectiveness. Here is just one of them. useful advertising When asked to rank media in terms of usefulness of advertising these results emerged: ' Proportion Ranking in First Place Newspapers Source of most useful advertising Radio Television 14% 13% Newspapers are seen as the source of the most useful advertising with a rating five times higher than radio and six times higher than television. Newspapers are seen as the source of the most useful advertising for all age groups, both sexes, all income groups and all occupation groups.
