Finished a splendid third to Koarakau and Kawarua Gold over 3200 m on Cup day. Before that had won at Addington on October 26 and Greymouth. Is well up to this class and will be a top chance. D. Townley 3 1117 KOARAKAU (3) It (3 c Lordship—Happy). Looked to be going well until involved in a mix-up in his race at the straight entrance on Tuesday. Form before that suggested he would be a leading contender for Derby honours. If he has taken no harm from Tuesday’s incident should be close up as he appeals as a stayer. B. Nyhan 4 $4O GOLDEN MOOSE (4; It (3 c Play Bill—Moose). Rather disappointing on Cup day when he finished eleventh in the sprint won by Star Guest. Received a poor run in C 3 races at the Cup meeting and did well to finish fifth and fourth. Looks pro-

Lost few friends when third to Hobart Lord and Fuse in a close finish to the Empire Handicap on Cup day as he covered extra ground early and attempted to lead for the last 1600 m. Has created a big impression In two race starts, the most recent of which was a win at the expense of Spry Guy in the First Rlccarton Stakes on Cup day. Is sure to be Improved and looks a sound chance. M. Holmes 9 2222 SPRY GUY (9) It (3 c Spry—Fleeting Song). Just failed to beat Al's Holiday on Cup day after starting from 30m. Not disgraced after receiving a poor run when second to Imperial Demand on Show Day. Is usually a smart beginner and capable of being In the thick of things throughout. No appeal on latest showings. C. McLaughlin 1b 1574 ROYAL ASCOT (1) IS (6 g Prince Charming—Morsel). Checked in Matson Stakes and did extremely well to finish sixth. Better placed in this race and could get into the finish. F. Newfield 2 9300 FAB (2) It (6 g Hundred Proof—Gala Girl). Out of form and makes little appeal. M. Skinner 3 41 DWAYNE (3) It (7 g Bachelor Hanover —Nancy Lee). Won well over 3200 m on Tuesday night. Will find this much tougher. M. Holmes 4 11 BACHELOR STAR (4) It (5 h Bachelor Hanover—Adio Star). Gained two impressive wins on first two days of the meeting when having his first races for more than a year. In spite of the rise in class looks a top chance. J. Fifth in free-for-all and then a good second to Young Quinn in Matson Stakes. Sure to take beating. I. Dickie 8 500 SASSENACH (8) It (7 g Young Charles—Leyava). No appeal on latest efforts. D. McNaught 9 0445 Hi FOYLE (9) It (5 h Hi Lo’s Forbes—Golden Legacy). Showed great speed for a fourth and a fifth In successive races on Tuesday night. Gained a dashing win in the Matson Stakes, following on a fast run for fourth in the free-for-all after breaking. Looks favourably placed to win again. C.
