fJV.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright! GOSFORTH. Australia's Rugby stocks took another sharp downward turn when the Wallabies were defeated, 16-13, by Northern Counties yesterday. As a lead-up to Saturday’s international against England at Twickenham, the game was a bitter disappointment to the Australians. They hit their low point of
the tour as they dropped passes, gave away penalties, and failed to make anything of their opportunities. It looked as if the Australians had found their touch in the opening minutes of the game. They won the ball as they liked, and the makeshift back-line threw it around impressively. Australia has now won only two of its seven matches, and is given little chance of beating England in the final game. For Australia, Rowles and J. McLean scored tries, and McLean kicked a penalty and conversion. Counties points came from tries by D. Carr and J. K. Britten, a conversion by M. Young, a penalty by K. Smith, and a dropped goal by I. McDonnell.
