TOUR ATHLETES CONFIRMED

Five of the six Australian athletes named to make a two-week tour of New Zealand next month have confirmed their availability.
The Secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association (Mr P. V. O’Brien) said yesterday that the sixth member of the Rothmans sponsored tour should be named shortly. The five athletes, all in the Australian Commonwealth Games team, are G. Haskell, A. Ratcliffe, Miss D. Robertson (sprinters); W. Hooker (800 metres); Miss A. Cooke (800 and 1500 metres). Originally, the sixth member of the team was Miss J. Lamy, the women’s 200 metres bronze medalist at the Mexico City Olympic
’ Games. However, she with- : drew, and her replacement, . Miss R. Doake, was not avail- : able. : Mr O’Brien said that Miss ■ R. Ramsey, of Queensland, had now been suggested by i the Australian Athletic ■ Union. She has been chosen , for the Games 800 metres, . and has a best time of 2min . Bsec. The athletes will compete . at Hamilton on December 8, • Auckland on December 12, . and Wellington on December I 15. The last meeting will be ; in conjunction with the Can- : terbury-Wefiington match.
