Sports and recreation subsidy

Sir, —Would sports and recreation bodies, with the City Council, consider using the new Government subsidies to buy, house, and maintain a closed-circuit half-inch videotape recording installation for all the people of Christchurch? Sportsmen and women need to see themselves in action to be convinced of faults and also to see correct detailed action of the best players. Actors, writers, dancers, musicians, artists and film-makers need to learn how best to use the TV medium, viewers need to see how it is done and everybody is curious to see himself on screen. In school holidays the C.C.T.V. could be used for children’s talent quests and videorecorded concerts. Workshops could be held at long week-ends. Such an amenity could be put in St' Paul’s Trinity-Pacific Church or an ex-university building and 1 people could pay small sums Ito use it. — Yours, etc., IMAGINE. November 12, 1973.
