Deeds to be searched

Until the Eyre County’s district planning scheme comes into use, weekly searches will be made of the Lands and Deeds Registry records to find undesirable subdivisions in the county. The county council meeting last week received a letter from the registry office saying that the District Land Registrar was not obliged to notify councils of subdivisions over 10 acres, where the councils did not have planning schemes in use. The County Clerk (Mr L. P. Southen) said that in such cases the council could refuse building permits until the district scheme was operative. “We do not w-ant housing subdivisions which we do not approve, and a 10-acre subdivision is for housing.”
