BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY PUBLIC SUBMISSIONS SOUGHT THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL has. at the request of the Minister of Labour, set up a Study Group to Investigate Stability in the Building and Construction Indusrty. The Studv Group invites organisations and indidivuals to make written submission not later than Tuesday, July 31. Twelve typed double-spaced copies of such submissions, and summaries of recommendations. should be sent to — The Secretary, N.D.C. Building Stability Group, P.O. Box 12-041, Wellington. Public hearings will not be held but those making submission may be contacted for elaboration or clarification. Those making submissions will be sent, without charge, a copy of the Study Group’s final report and recommendations. The Study Group’s terms of reference are—“To examine ways and means of stabilising and regulating rates of growth in the Building and Construction Industry. Having regard to N.D.C. targets and objectives the Group should report on (1) Factors which affect demand in the industry. (2) The place of the industry in the national economy and its response to changes in the level and composition of demand for its output. (3) The supply of resources available to the industry, including the availability, training and retention of skilled labour and the supply of materials and equipment. (4) The financing of the industry. (5) The measures and machinery required to allow for greater stability in the industry.” 3059
