Abandoned match
A Canterbury Football Association competition match was abandoned In unusual circumstances at Bumside Park on Saturday.
Caihmer* Wanderers was leading Riccarton, 5-0, after 20 minutes, when a player on each side collided. The Riccarton man seriously injured his head, was taken to hospital, and the referee then called the game off—and had no alternative under the rules. Riccarton had started the match with eight men and Cashmere with 10. With the loss of another player and no substitute to replace him, Riccarton's ranks were reduced to seven.
And the rules state that a competition match will not be played when any side can field less than eight players.
